I’m Jae Etchart, and I’m running to represent District 15 in the Idaho House of Representatives.
I’ve called Boise home for 46 years, building a career in housing, healthcare, and helping people navigate the challenges of everyday life. I’m running to bring a practical voice to the Statehouse—one that listens, cuts through the noise, and stays focused on what matters to Idaho families.

Why I’m Running
I love Idaho—our mountains, lakes, rivers, and public lands, our neighborhoods, and the way people look out for one another.
My career has been about solving problems and helping people navigate the things that affect their everyday lives. I started in accounting, spent 15 years working in affordable housing, and today help seniors and people with disabilities navigate Medicare and Medicaid.
That experience has taught me to listen carefully, understand the facts, and never forget the real people behind the decisions we make.
My faith and service on the care team at my church have reinforced something I have believed throughout my life: we have a responsibility to care about our neighbors and show up when people need us.
I believe public service carries that same responsibility.
We don’t have to agree on everything to deserve my attention. As your representative, I’ll listen, do my homework, and always remember who I was elected to serve.
I am dedicated to community empowerment and building bridges across the isle.

BIO -
I have lived in Boise for 46 years and during my time in our great state, I have had the privilege of wearing many hats in various roles such as supervising accounting teams at large companies like Micron, to rolling up my sleeves in smaller businesses such as Mobex Communications. Additionally, I had the opportunity of having my own businesses in real-estate, property management and currently now assisting others as a Medicare and Medicaid Insurance Agent working side by side with Idahoans as they try to make sense of the often-overwhelming world of insurance.
Having these roles is where I learned first hand of the incredible value of hard work, adaptability, and supporting our local economy.
My service
Serving my community has always been at the heart of who I am. I have delivered food to families in need, volunteered at the homeless shelter, served as a camp counselor at the YMCA, and currently serving on my church’s Care Team. Through these experiences, I have seen how compassion and service can change lives. My work as Vice Chair and Precinct Captain for District 15 has given me a deeper understanding of our community’s needs. As I look forward to representing you in the House, I am committed to bringing your voices and concerns to the Capitol.
Human Service Component
For 15-years I worked at the Boise City/Ada County Housing Authority, which allowed me to assist seniors, veterans, people with disabilities, immigrants and families with limited incomes, find the resources they needed to build stable and independent lives. These experiences have shown me, repeatedly, how important it is to have someone who will stand with you and help you navigate complicated systems and a vulnerable population.
Through these experiences they have ALL been gifts in my life that have propelled me in improving my leadership skills while building bridges with my colleges and departments across the aisle. Building those bridges was also an effective way to brainstorm and come together in solutions that worked for everyone and every level of the business. As your House Representative, I will continue to build bridges across the aisle for District-15 and the state of Idaho.

Having years of assisting others have shown me the importance of listening carefully, having compassion and working together to find practical solutions that are effective in people's lives.
PRIORITIES
Focused on What Matters
Across District 15, I hear the same concerns: Can we afford to live here? Can we get the healthcare we need? Are we managing growth responsibly? Are we creating opportunities for the next generation?
These are practical challenges. They deserve practical leadership.
Per-Pupil Spending and Funding
Strong public schools are the foundation of strong communities. Idaho's children deserve great schools, supported teachers, and opportunities that prepare them to build their futures right here at home.
Last in the Nation: Idaho consistently ranks last or near the bottom nationwide for per-pupil spending in public schools, spending roughly $11,391 per student (over $6,000 below the national average)
Facility Needs: State evaluations have highlighted significant backlogs in school building maintenance and underfunded special education programs.
Risks of Selling or Transferring Land
Permanent Loss: Once public land or endowment lands are sold to private interests (such as the recent high profile 160-acre state endowment auction near the Tetons for $5-million), public access is typically closed off permanently.
Economic Impact: Outdoor recreation, tourism and jobs account for 25% of Idaho's total employment, which is over 244,000 jobs.
New Poll finds that 96% of Idaho voters say that public lands should remain in public hands.
Housing
Affordable Unit Gap: Only 33 affordable and available units exist for every 100 rent-burdened households in Idaho.
Wage vs. Rent: Minimum wage earners must work 126 hours per week to afford a standard one-bedroom fair market rental.
Young Adult Impact: 25.4% of young adults aged 18 to 34 live with their parents due to high market entry barriers.

Groceries
Too many Idahoans are working hard and still struggling to make ends meets.
Idaho saw one of the highest monthly produce cost jumps in the nation, which surged up to 20% ($52 more a month/$624 a year, or about $12 more a week).
Idaho ranks 8th worst in the country for healthcare access and faces significant barriers to accessing medical care. Idahoans have limited providers and a high uninsured rate of 10.8%, with low per-capita expenditure on healthcare.

Idaho ranks as the 7th most expensive state in the country for regular unleaded gasoline, with an average of $4.82 per gallon as of September 2026
